Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care
Hepatitis arises when the liver's defenses are compromised by a viral infection, typically transmitted through contaminated food or water, bodily fluids, or sexual contact. Advanced stages of hepatitis often manifest as a systemic illness, with patients experiencing failure in multiple organs.

Background
Fatema is a nine-year-old girl from the slums of Narayanganj. Her parents aspire for her to become a teacher. However, Fatema's mother, Resma, is the sole breadwinner in the family, working as a sewing machine operator in a garment factory. Unfortunately, her father suffered a stroke and is unable to work, while Fatema's brother, Redwan, is currently studying in a Madrasa. Fatema is currently battling acute viral hepatitis, experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and fever. Due to their financial constraints, Fatema's mother is unable to afford her treatment. The family is appealing to Helpster Heroes for assistance in covering Fatema's medical expenses.
Medical history
Fatema, a 9-year-old girl, was suffering from acute Viral Hepatitis. She required emergency hospitalization due to severe vomiting, abdominal pain, anorexia, fever, and yellowish discoloration of her sclera, mucous membranes, and skin. Fatema was treated conservatively, and thankfully, she is now doing well and back home with a bright smile. Her family is incredibly happy to have her safe and sound! A heartfelt thank you to the Helpster Heroes and the Narayanganj Polyclinic Team!
Prognosis
Hepatitis demands prompt medical attention, often requiring antiviral therapy. Failure to treat hepatitis promptly can result in chronic liver damage, liver failure, cirrhosis, and in severe cases, hepatocellular carcinoma. Additionally, hepatitis can lead to complications such as jaundice, ascites, and brain dysfunction due to liver failure, which can be life-threatening if left unchecked.
