Nigeria has a population of over 240 million people, the most populous African country. Yet 40% lack access to vital healthcare, and 70% live below the poverty line. This creates impossible barriers for families in desperate need of medical care.
Helpster Charity bridges this gap by deploying tech-driven solutions to address healthcare inequalities, especially in remote communities in Northern Nigeria.
Through our platform, over 500 children and pregnant women have received life-saving medical care. We achieve this through two core programmes:
Healthcare Funding
We identify urgent cases through volunteers, hospitals and local partners, assessing them against strict criteria: poverty scoring, urgency, cost, and likelihood of success. Qualified cases are posted on the Helpster website and app for funding. Our admission rate is 62.5%, maintaining high standards. Donations go directly to hospitals, with 5-7% covering transaction fees. All case documents are public, and donors track outcomes in real-time. We accept cases below 1,500 USD (sometimes up to 3,000 USD). Transparency and verification are core to everything we do.
Medical Outreaches
We regularly conduct free medical outreaches in remote regions with little to no healthcare access. In these communities, we provide screening, diagnosis, treatment and health education directly to those who need it most.
Our outreach programme has impacted thousands of Nigerians across rural areas, bringing essential medical services to communities that would otherwise have no access.
