When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Kidney stones are hard deposits made of minerals and salts that form inside the kidneys. Kidney stones can cause severe pain in the back and side of the abdomen, pain during urination, pink, red, or brown urine, nausea, vomiting, and a persistent need to urinate.

Background
Aisha, a cheerful thirteen-year-old girl from a financially disadvantaged family, is known for her lively spirit and willingness to help with household chores. She enjoys cooking and playing with her siblings and neighborhood children, nurturing dreams of becoming a lawyer in the future. However, Aisha's health took a downturn about six months ago when she began experiencing left flank pain and lower back pain, which intensified during urination. Seeking medical assistance, she visited another facility where doctors diagnosed her with left kidney stone. Unfortunately, her family lacked the financial means to cover the cost of surgery. Fortunately, Aisha was referred to the UMD Clinic through a Helpster volunteer for treatment. Urgent surgery is required to save her left kidney.

Prognosis
Larger stones might require more extensive treatment like using sound waves to break up the stone (lithotripsy), surgery to remove very large stones, or using a scope passed through the bladder to remove smaller stones. Kidney stones can cause excruciating pain as they move through the urinary tract. If left untreated, the stone may continue to pass or become lodged in a position that causes persistent, severe pain.
