Hassan comes from a humble background, where he ventures into the bush to hunt wild animals and sell them to support his family financially. He is extroverted with a passion for hunting and fishing. His ambition is to become a renowned hunter both in his community and beyond. Recently, Hassan was brought to a medical facility with complaints of abdominal pain and right iliac fossa pain, accompanied by a history of vomiting, fever, and diarrhea that began about a week ago. He initially sought treatment at a government-owned facility, where he was prescribed antibiotics and pain relief medications. However, his symptoms persisted. Due to financial constraints, Hassan was unable to afford a return visit to the hospital and instead started taking alternative medications at home, which led to a worsening of his condition this evening. Informed about the Helpster charity's offer of free treatment by a community leader, Hassan was referred to the UMD Medical Clinic. At the hospital, he underwent examination and investigations, which resulted in a diagnosis of acute abdomen secondary to a ruptured appendix. Hassan now urgently requires an exploratory laparotomy to remove the appendix and clean the pus from his abdomen.

At the hospital, he underwent examination and investigations, which resulted in a diagnosis of acute abdomen secondary to a ruptured appendix. Hassan now urgently requires an exploratory laparotomy to remove the appendix and clean the pus from his abdomen. He had a successful surgery on 13th April 2024, and was discharged on 17th April 2024.

If appendicitis is not treated, it can lead to serious complications, the most severe being a ruptured appendix. When the appendix ruptures, it releases bacteria into the abdomen, potentially leading to a serious infection called peritonitis, which can be life-threatening. An abscess, which is a pocket of infection, may also form.Treatment for appendicitis usually involves surgery to remove the appendix, a procedure known as an appendectomy.
