Umar, a five-year-old cheerful boy, comes from a financially struggling family. His father works as a watchman, earning less than minimum wage. Umar enjoys eating and playing with other children in their neighborhood. His dream is to pursue a career in the military when he grows up. Until two years after birth, Umar was in good health. However, his mother noticed abnormal swelling in his scrotum that did not diminish or disappear. Initially small, the swelling gradually increased in size. Umar experiences mild pain, discomfort while walking, and a feeling of heaviness due to the swelling. He was taken to the UMD Clinic, where he underwent clinical examination and was diagnosed with hydrocele.

He was admitted for surgery on the 17th of July,2024 on account of hydrocele. He had a successful surgery, post-operative treatment duly served and was discharged home on 20th july,2024. The family were grateful to Helpster Charity for the free surgery.

The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
