Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Bokoli Subcounty Hospital
Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, Sikata - Kimilili Rd, Bokoli
Background
Samwel is a 6-month-old boy who has been unwell for past 5 days. Mother is a housewife and his father is also jobless. They barely make ends meet. The family of three is living in the paternal home where there are 5 other households. They all share the same bathroom and pit latrine. They fetch water from a stream during the rainy seasons. The stream is 25 minutes away from their homestead. During the dry season, they have to rely on buying water or requesting the neighbouring homesteads if they can fetch water in their wells. Admission date - 27. May 2023.
Medical history
Mother was initially worried that she was not going to afford the hospital fee this time since just a few days ago she had spent some money to treat the child for pneumonia before the child also developed diarrhoea and vomiting. She was happy to realize that Helpster Charity was assisting patients at Bokoli Subcounty Hospital and that she did not have to pay for the treatment. Child had initially been treated for pneumonia, but unfortunately he also developed diarrhoea and vomiting which made his condition worse. Returned to the hospital and was treated. Child progressed well.
Prognosis
The patient was presented to our facility with a cough, hotness of body, diarrhoea and vomiting. Due to such a complicated condition, the child may soon reach lung damage, and several organ failure, if left untreated.
