Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections

Adeno-tonsillar hypertrophy refers to the enlargement or swelling of both the adenoids and tonsils. The adenoids are a collection of lymphoid tissue located at the back of the nasal passage, while the tonsils are clusters of lymphoid tissue in the throat. When both the adenoids and tonsils become enlarged, it can result in various health issues, such as difficulty breathing, snoring, sleep apnea, recurrent infections, and other related symptoms.

Background

Nahiyan is a seven-year-old boy who resides with his mother in the slums of Khulna city. His mother works as a receptionist in a private company, and they struggle to afford their rent. Despite these challenges, Nahiyan attends school and enjoys playing with his friends. However, for the past six months, he has been enduring regular coughing fits, fever, and throat and ear pain, hindering his ability to eat properly. Despite seeking treatment from two government hospitals, Nahiyan's condition persists, and the waiting list for surgery at the government hospital is approximately six months long and not without cost. In their desperation, they crossed paths with Dr. Soikot, who informed them about the partnership between Helpster Charity and Khulna City Medical College Hospital. Nazma, Nahiyan's mother, pleads with Helpster Charity donors to assist her family in this time of need.

Medical history

A cheerful and energetic young boy had been struggling with persistent throat issues, including frequent sore throats, difficulty swallowing, and sleepless nights due to pain. After several visits to the doctor, it was confirmed that his tonsils had become problematic, necessitating a tonsillectomy. Initially nervous about the operation, he found comfort in his family's support and the expertise of the medical team. During the surgery, the doctors carefully removed his enlarged tonsils to alleviate his symptoms. Although the recovery was challenging with a sore throat and difficulty eating, he gradually regained his strength with proper care. His parents expressed their gratitude, stating, "It was impossible for us to find the money for the treatment on our own." They extended heartfelt thanks to Helpster Donors and Khulna City Medical College Hospital for making this life-changing surgery possible for their son.

Prognosis

Enlarged tonsils can trap bacteria and viruses, leading to recurrent throat and ear infections. These infections can cause discomfort, pain, and may require repeated courses of antibiotics. An adenotonsillectomy is a medical procedure in which both the adenoids and tonsils are surgically removed. The adenoids are small glands located at the back of the throat, while the tonsils are situated on either side of the throat.
