Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Huawa has acute respiratory infection and undiagnosed sickle cell crisis. Acute respiratory infection (ARI) is an infection that may interfere with normal breathing. It can affect just your upper respiratory system, which starts at your sinuses and ends at your vocal chords, or just your lower respiratory system, which starts at your vocal chords and ends at your lungs. A sickle cell crisis, also known as a vaso-occlusive crisis, is a painful episode that occurs in individuals with sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that affects the shape and function of red blood cells. In a crisis, the abnormally shaped red blood cells become rigid and can block blood vessels, leading to reduced blood flow and oxygen supply to various parts of the body. Sickle cell crises can cause severe pain, most commonly in the bones, joints, chest, and abdomen. Other symptoms may include fever, fatigue, and organ damage if the blocked blood vessels restrict blood flow to vital organs.

Background
Hauwa, affectionately known as Nana, is a two-year-old child from a financially disadvantaged family and the youngest among four siblings. She enjoys spending time at her grandmother's house, where she can play with kids her age. Despite her tender age, Hauwa shows promise for the future. Until recently, Hauwa was in good health. However, she developed swelling on her skin, hands, and feet, along with complaints of paleness, fever, and a runny nose. Despite attempts by her parents to alleviate her symptoms with native herbal remedies, they were unsuccessful. Consequently, they sought assistance from Helpster. Upon examination and laboratory investigation of a blood sample, Hauwa was diagnosed with Undiagnosed Sickle Cell Disease and Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI).
Medical history
Hauwa Mohammed, a bright-eyed 2-year-old girl, fell seriously ill with an Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) that left her struggling to breathe. Her worried parents took her to Nakowa Specialist Hospital, where the medical team quickly took charge. Led by a compassionate team of doctors and nurses, Hauwa's journey to recovery began with a series of critical assessments and tests. Upon arrival, the doctors conducted a thorough examination and lab tests to understand the cause of her breathing difficulties. To fight the infection, Hauwa was given antibiotics and antiviral medications. Over the next few days, Hauwa's health showed signs of improvement. Her breathing steadied, and her oxygen levels returned to normal. The antibiotics were doing their job, and the infection began to clear. Smiles slowly returned to her parents' faces as they saw her playful energy returning. None of this would have been possible without the generous support of Helpster Charity, which covered the entire cost of Hauwa’s treatment. Their assistance allowed her to receive timely and uninterrupted care, ensuring that finances were never a barrier to her well-being.
Prognosis
If left untreated, ARIs caused by viral or bacterial pathogens can result in deteriorating respiratory symptoms. This can potentially lead to complications such as pneumonia, bronchiolitis, or the exacerbation of underlying lung conditions like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). If the condition is not treated, the pain associated with a sickle cell crisis can become more severe and prolonged, significantly affecting a person's quality of life. Reduced blood flow and oxygen supply to organs can result in damage to vital organs, including the spleen, liver, kidneys, and lungs. Individuals with sickle cell disease are more susceptible to infections, and a crisis can weaken the immune system, making them even more vulnerable to infections. In some cases, the blockage of blood vessels can lead to a stroke, which can cause lasting neurological damage. Treatment for a sickle cell crisis involves pain management,In some cases, blood transfusions may be necessary to replace sickled red blood cells with healthy ones and improve oxygen delivery.
