Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology
Pneumonia develops when the defensive mechanisms within the lung become overwhelmed by a pathogen which has been either inhaled or aspirated. It is associated with a high mortality rate and significant morbidity. Severe pneumonia is frequently a multisystem disease and patients will often present with multiple organ failure.

Background
Shayon is an eight-month-old boy hailing from the slums of Narayanganj. His father bears the sole responsibility of providing for the family, yet they struggle to make ends meet. Unfortunately, Shayon is currently battling Severe Pneumonia, experiencing severe respiratory distress, along with symptoms of cough, cold, and fever. Additionally, he is afflicted by anemia and malnutrition.
Medical history
Shayon, an 8-month-old baby, was suffering from Severe Pneumonia. Despite several courses of antibiotics from the local pharmacy and government hospital, his condition wasn't improving. He required emergency hospitalization. Shayon received oxygen therapy, nebulization treatments with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, and budesonide, along with injectable antibiotics and hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of his condition. Thankfully, he is now doing well and back home, bringing joy to his parents. A heartfelt thank you to the Helpster Heroes and the Narayanganj Polyclinic Team!
Prognosis
Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
