Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About digestion system

Sifat was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis and Bronchiolitis. Gastroenteritis is the inflammation of the stomach and intestines, typically resulting from bacterial toxins or viral infection and causing vomiting and diarrhoea. Bronchiolitis manifests as an infection within the respiratory tract, affecting the bronchioles — small air passages in the lungs. Triggered by a viral infection, these bronchioles become inflamed and congested with mucus, impeding normal breathing and potentially leading to respiratory distress.

Background

Sifat, a nine-year-old boy, resides happily with his parents, brother, and sister in a tin shed house in the slums. His father, Mohammad, shoulders the responsibility of providing for the family by working in a mosque, while his mother, Selina, manages their home. Recently, Sifat has been battling a persistent cough, cold, and respiratory distress, despite attempts to alleviate his symptoms with medicines from a local pharmacy. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse when he developed Acute Gastroenteritis, experiencing abdominal pain, frequent loose stools, fever, and vomiting. Despite seeking treatment at a government hospital, his condition showed no signs of improvement. Fortunately, through the guidance of their neighbors, Sifat's parents learned about Helpster and Narayanganj Polyclinic.

Medical history

Sifat was suffering from Bronchiolitis, an inflammation of the respiratory tract, accompanied by acute Gastroenteritis, which is inflammation of the stomach and intestines causing diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. He developed dehydration and experienced respiratory difficulties as well. In this situation, appropriate treatment involves fluid infusion. Sifat received conservative treatment with cholera saline, paracetamol, ceftriaxone, oral zinc, probiotics, and nebulization. Thankfully, he is now doing well and back to his normal life, with a bright smile on his face. Sifat's parents are overjoyed and struggle to find the right words to express their gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the Narayanganj Polyclinic Team!

Prognosis

Gastroenteritis can cause significant loss of fluids and electrolytes through vomiting and diarrhea. Without proper treatment, dehydration can become severe and require urgent medical attention. If left untreated, bronchitis can escalate, giving rise to potential complications such as pneumonia or chronic bronchitis, characterized by persistent symptoms over an extended period. In severe instances, untreated bronchitis may precipitate respiratory failure, necessitating urgent medical intervention.
