Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Goodhope Nyahururu Nursing Home

Nyahururu Town

Background

Natalia, a cheerful girl from a low-income family, resides with her mother and grandparents in the outskirts of town. She was admitted to the hospital due to ongoing vomiting over the past week and diarrhea for the last two days, accompanied by a mild fever. Upon arrival, she appeared significantly dehydrated and in a severe state of illness.

Medical history

Wangeci was brought by her mother into the hospital with complaints of persistent vomiting for the last one week, according to Veronica, Natalia was taken to government dispensary where she was treated with ORS. Two days later the condition worsens with diarrhea and mild fevers. Because Veronica is a single mother with neither family support nor reliable source of income, she could not afford to take the child to good and bigger hospital until her friend introduced her to Helpster Charity and she came to Good Hope Hospital to beg Helpster Charity to help her raise funds to pay her daughter's medical treatment. Immediately the child was taken to emergency room for urgent treatment, fluids and antiemetic was administered and abserved for some hours, then she showed much improvement and was discharged with antibiotics to continue at home. Two weeks later her mother was very happy since Natalia was strong again and happy, she thanked Helpster Charity for considering their request for help.

Prognosis

Gastroenteritis can cause significant loss of fluids and electrolytes through vomiting and diarrhea. Without proper treatment, dehydration can become severe and require urgent medical attention.
