Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Jermaine is a five-year-old boy from a poor family who dreams of becoming a doctor when he grows up. Despite his circumstances, he is generally a happy and jovial child. He enjoys watching cartoons at their neighbor's house. Jermaine had been well until two days ago when he fell ill. He had been away, traveling with his parents upcountry and only returned three days ago. He became ill a day after returning from upcountry, complaining of poor appetite, fever, and vomiting. Jermaine's condition has worsened, especially with the persistent vomiting, leading to his admission to the hospital.
Medical history
Jermain had been in good health until two days ago when he suddenly fell ill. He had recently returned from a trip upcountry with his parents, having arrived back just three days ago. A day after his return, he began to feel unwell, experiencing a loss of appetite, fever, and frequent vomiting. The vomiting persisted after every oral intake, leaving him unable to retain any meals. As his condition worsened, particularly with the ongoing vomiting, his family brought him to the hospital. Upon arrival, he was immediately given IV fluids due to severe dehydration. After taking a detailed medical history and conducting lab tests, Jermain was diagnosed with malaria and started on the appropriate treatment.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Gastroenteritis can cause significant loss of fluids and electrolytes through vomiting and diarrhea. Without proper treatment, dehydration can become severe and require urgent medical attention.
