Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Milcah is a hardworking pupil who aspires to be a doctor in the future. She enjoys reading novels and playing netball. Her mother, who is visually impaired, is a housewife, while her father is a small-scale farmer who sells their farm produce to support the family. There are four members in their household, all sharing a two-roomed house. Milcah mentions that it has been difficult for them since the rains were delayed, resulting in an insufficient harvest, which is their primary source of income. Her father is struggling to provide for them and pay school fees, causing Milcah to often be sent home for unpaid fees. Milcah requests the assistance of Helpster Charity for treatment, as she has been unwell for some time and has only been taking painkillers from a nearby chemist. She has been complaining of a headache for two weeks, which is associated with dizziness. She vomits after meals and is unable to retain any solid food. Additionally, she has been experiencing a burning pain in the epigastric region, which comes and goes, accompanied by a strange metallic taste in her mouth.

Medical history

Milcah had been complaining of a headache for two weeks, which is associated with dizziness. She was vomiting after meals and was unable to retain any solid food. Additionally, she had been experiencing a burning pain in the epigastric region, which was occasional, accompanied by a strange metallic taste in her mouth. After the doctor examined her, she was sent to the laboratory for investigations and found to be suffering from peptic ulcers disease and severe malaria. She was admitted to the inpatient department for treatment and was discharged when stable.

Prognosis

Treating peptic ulcer disease generally involves a combination of medications to reduce stomach acid and, if applicable, eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. An untreated ulcer can burn through the wall of the stomach or small intestine, causing a serious, life-threatening infection in the abdominal cavity (peritonitis).
