Cecilia W., 4

Cecilia is a 4 yr old girl who lives with her parents in slums of town. She is shy and afraid of strangers; likes playing hide and seek with her friends. Cecilia loves drinking yoghurt, eating ice cream and watching cartoons. She wants to be teacher in future. She was brought to the hospital with complains of persistent cough, wheezing and chest congestion for one week. They heard about Helpster Charity from their church and came to seek treatment at Good Hope Hospital for assistance since they had been unable to raise funds to pay for Cecilia's medical treatment.

Cecilia arrived at the hospital with a sudden onset of symptoms that had developed just within the last 24 hours. She was struggling with a productive cough, chest congestion, and noticeable difficulty in breathing. On examination, her lungs revealed transmitted sounds and rhonchi, indicating airway obstruction and inflammation. She was promptly treated with nebulization to ease her breathing and was started on a combination of medications—including anti-inflammatories, decongestants, and antibiotics—to tackle the infection and relieve her symptoms. A few days after her discharge, a follow-up phone call brought good news: Cecilia was breathing easy again and had made a full recovery.

Bronchiolitis is a life threatening infections that should be urgently treated with antibiotics and bronchodilators. If not treated early Cecilia lungs would be at risk of developing exudes which can lead to respiratory collapse leading to possible death.
