Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Gavin was diagnosed with Severe malaria and Pneumania. Severe malaria occurs when infections are complicated by serious organ failures or abnormalities in the patient's blood or metabolism. Pneumonia develops when the defensive mechanisms within the lung become overwhelmed by a pathogen which has been either inhaled or aspirated. It is associated with a high mortality rate and significant morbidity. Severe pneumonia is frequently a multisystem disease and patients will often present with multiple organ failure.

Background
Gavin is the third-born in his family and a passionate football fan. He enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming a professional player like Mbappé. He also works hard in school, where his favorite subject is Physical Education. Gavin is a reliable and responsible boy, often trusted to be a team leader in group work. Gavin was well until the morning of the day he was brought to the hospital, when he suddenly developed a headache, chest pains, fevers, and chills. The symptoms appeared suddenly but were very severe, making him look like he had been unwell for over a week. He was very restless, prompting his mother to waste no time in bringing him to the hospital. Although she did not have any money, she was aware of Helpster Charity after having read about it on a poster at the local market.
Medical history
When Gavin arrived at the hospital, the attending doctor quickly carried out an initial assessment and sent him off for lab tests to get to the root of his symptoms. The results painted a clear picture—Gavin was battling a triple challenge: malaria, moderate iron deficiency anemia, and pneumonia. Without delay, he was started on a course of antimalarial medication and antibiotics to tackle the infections. Thankfully, his body responded well to the treatment. A follow-up home visit confirmed that Gavin had made a full recovery and was back to his usual self, healthy.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences. Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
