A person with an inguinal hernia typically experiences a noticeable bulge or lump in the groin area. This bulge can be painful or uncomfortable, especially when lifting, coughing, or straining. Some individuals might also feel aching or burning sensations around the hernia. In certain cases, the hernia can lead to symptoms like groin pain, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and discomfort.

Background
Onalaja is a 20 y.o. boy who lives with his uncle in Ijebu-Ode. The mother lives at Ore in Ondo state. The father died a year ago of undisclosed illness. Onalaja is a very serious and hardworking boy. The boy works as an apprentice in a barbing salon. The mother sells roasted plantain by the road side. Admission date - 27. January 2023.
Medical history
We are the parents of Onalaja Segun who had surgery (Left Inguinal Herniorrhaphy) at Divine Amazing Grace Hospital. Before the surgery Segun had been having recurrent lower abdominal pain that has been affecting his school attendant. This has been a source of worry to us as parents. We appreciate Helpster for coming to our aid and bringing joy and laughter back to the household.
Prognosis
If left untreated, inguinal hernias can lead to complications such as bowel obstruction, strangulation (where blood supply to the herniated tissue is cut off), and significant pain or discomfort. Surgery is the most common treatment for inguinal hernias to repair the weakened area and prevent these potential complications.
