Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About gynecology

Fetal distress occurs when the fetus shows signs of not getting enough oxygen during labor or delivery. A Caesarean section may be necessary in cases of fetal distress to quickly deliver the baby and reduce the risk of complications.

Background

Bristy is 38 weeks pregnant and lives with her family in a two-room house in the slums. Her mother, Tulsi, a 40-year-old housewife, and her husband, Badu, a 27-year-old garment factory worker, live with her. Badu is the sole breadwinner for the family. Recently, Bristy has been experiencing severe abdominal pain and decreased fetal movement. They visited a nearby government hospital but were unable to see a doctor due to staff shortages. On their way home, they met a neighbor who informed them about Helpster Charity.

Medical history

Bristy, nearing the end of her pregnancy at 38 weeks, was suddenly gripped by severe abdominal pain that raised alarm bells about the onset of labor. However, as the hours passed, the pain did not progress, and her heart sank when she noticed a decrease in fetal movement. With mounting concern, she was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic, where the medical team quickly sprang into action. The urgency of the situation called for an emergency cesarean section, which was performed successfully under spinal anesthesia. With bated breath, Bristy awaited the outcome. When she heard the first cries of her healthy baby boy, weighing 2.9 kg, tears of relief streamed down her face. “He’s perfect!” she exclaimed, her voice quivering with emotion. After receiving attentive care and conservative treatment, Bristy is now thriving. She has returned to her normal life, her joy evident in her radiant smile. “We are so grateful to the incredible team at Narayanganj Poly Clinic,” she said, beaming with happiness as she cradled her newborn. “They not only saved my baby but also gave me a second chance at motherhood.” Bristy, now a proud mother, beams with joy as she reflects on her recent experience. "I can't express how grateful I am to Helpster Charity and the amazing team at Narayanganj Poly Clinic," she says, her eyes shining with happiness. "They were there for me when I needed help the most, and their support made all the difference." With her healthy baby boy in her arms, she adds, "I feel so blessed to have received such compassionate care. I can finally embrace my new life as a mother, and I’m filled with hope for the future."

Prognosis

In cases of fetal distress, timely intervention, often including a Caesarean section, is crucial to ensure the safety and health of both the baby and the mother. Without such intervention, the risks of severe and potentially life-threatening complications increase significantly. Prolonged labor can exacerbate fetal distress, and cause such complications as organ damage in the baby due to the lack of oxygen, stillbirth, and the risk of infection.
