Gloria was diagnosed with tonsillitis and malaria. Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils that causes pain on swallowing and can lead to upper respiratory tract infection. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes. The infection causes recurrent cycles of symptoms, including high fever, chills, fatigue, and, in severe cases, organ damage or failure.This stage of the disease is defined by the evidence of vital organ dysfunction.

Gloria is a jovial 13 year old girl, and a top achiever at school, she is the first born in a family of 4 children including herself, her mother is the sole bread winner of their family and she struggles to make ends meet. Whenever she notices her mother downcast she gives her mother motivation assuring her one day things will be better and they will go back and live in town as they had once done before. Gloria had aspired to be a catholic nun or a teacher but after being sick several times, she now wants to become a medical doctor so she can help others become better, she really wants to live a life serving others. Medical history
patient presented with pain while urinating and a history of recurrent malaria , a blood sample taken turned positive for mps. She was prescribed second line malaria drugs for her recurring malaria and antibiotics for her tonsilitis and eczema
Prognosis
Enlarged tonsils can trap bacteria and viruses, leading to recurrent throat and ear infections. These infections can cause discomfort, pain, and may require repeated courses of antibiotics. An adenotonsillectomy is a medical procedure in which both the adenoids and tonsils are surgically removed. The adenoids are small glands located at the back of the throat, while the tonsils are situated on either side of the throat. Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
