About infections
Ezra is diagnosed with the respiratory tract infection, malaria and scabies. Upper Respiratory Tract Infections primarily affect the upper part of the respiratory system, which includes the nose, throat, and sometimes the sinuses and ears. Common URTIs include: Common cold, leading to symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and sometimes a low-grade fever. Sinusitis: Inflammation of the sinus cavities, often associated with nasal congestion, facial pain or pressure, and thick nasal discharge. Pharyngitis (sore throat), or otitis media: an ear infection that can cause ear pain, fluid drainage from the ear, and hearing problems. Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the human itch mite. The microscopic scabies mite burrows into the upper layer of the skin where it lives and lays its eggs. The most common symptoms of scabies are intense itching and a pimple-like skin rash. It is contagious.

Background
Ezra and her siblings stays with their single mother, and they are all currently being taken care of by their grandmother. Ezra is a jovial and active boy who likes to jump rope not only as a hobby, but also as a way of keeping fit. He would like to be an electrical engineer when he grows up . He has been unwell for the past few days, having general body malaise, joint pains and muscle aches. Ezra's mother has been giving him analgesics, hoping that the symptoms will subside. However, today, he was even unable to go to school. He had also having rashes over the whole body.
Medical history
He had been unwell for the past few days, taking pain killers to ease the pain since the family could not afford the hospital treatment fee. Ezra got worse on the day he was brought to the hospital and could not go to school. Her grandmother brought him to the hospital for treatment after he realized that the illness has worsened having rashes all over the body and also having body weaknesses. He was treated as an outpatient, and follow up a few days after, it was confirmed that he was doing well
Prognosis
If an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) is not treated, it can weaken the immune system and the body's natural defenses. This can make it easier for other infections, such as bacterial sinusitis or ear infections, to develop as secondary complications. If the URTI is caused by a contagious virus (e.g., the common cold or influenza), untreated individuals can continue to spread the infection to others, potentially leading to outbreaks in close-contact settings like schools or workplaces. Without treatment, the itching and skin rash associated with scabies can intensify and become more widespread, leading to severe discomfort and sleep disturbances. Additionally, scratching the affected areas can cause open sores and increase the risk of bacterial skin infections, such as impetigo or cellulitis. In some cases, untreated scabies can lead to a persistent and chronic form of the condition, which can be even more challenging to manage.
