Princess C., 4

Princess lives with her grandparents in the suburbs of Moi's bridge town. She is jovial and also very playful. There is never a dull moment around Princess. Princess has a sweet tooth and likes drinking juice and eating sweets. Princess was brought to the hospital with complaints of abdominal pain, distension and discomfort. She also had loss of appetite and was reported to not have passed stool for the past three days, but was passing flatus. She had been very restless the previous night and tossed about in bed, crying with pain. The grandmother heard about Helpster Charity from the area chief and brought her to the hospital since she did not have any money for medical treatment.

Princess was brought into the hospital with reducible umbilical hernia and gastroenteritis She was given laxatives, analgesic and antibiotics. Princess was observed in the hospital for two hours and later discharged to continue with Oral medication at home. Three days later she came back for check up and she was responding well to treatment. Her parents were very happy and thankful to Helpster Charity for considering their request in saving their daughters life.

Intestinal obstruction is life threatening condition which should be urgently corrected so that there is passage of the contents in the bowel. The prognosis for this case is good since the cause of the obstruction was diagnosed and corrected without the need for surgery.
