Hauwa is a small girl who always likes to play with her toys and interacts well with her family members, according to her parents. She has a dream of becoming a barrister. She was well until about two weeks before her presentation when she started having a fever, cough, and associated difficulty in breathing. The cough was non-paroxysmal, and no history of post-tussive vomiting. She is not a known asthmatic and has no family history of asthma. The fever was high-grade and intermittent. No convulsion, no ear or eye symptoms, no urinary symptoms. There is cyanosis, subcostal and intercostal recession with non-reassuring vital signs on examination. The patient was admitted into the pediatrics emergency unit and is awaiting treatment.

Hauwa, a young patient diagnosed with severe bronchopneumonia, received timely and intensive treatment. She was administered broad-spectrum antibiotics, oxygen therapy, and supportive care to manage her symptoms and support her respiratory function. With close monitoring and adjustments to her treatment plan. Hauwa showed significant improvement, and her condition gradually stabilized, allowing her to recover and regain her health. She was later discharged home following the recovery of her condition. Parents are so happy and grateful to helpster for helping them navigate through the sickness of their child.

This needs hospital admission as revealed by clinical examination. The patient will benefit from intra-nasal oxygen. Investigation which includes an urgent chest x-ray, complete blood count, and blood gas is needed. This patient needs to be placed on injectable antibiotics, fluid and electrolyte control, and nutritional rehabilitation. The patient may have a full recovery with prompt treatment, however, death will be inevitable if the child is left untreated.
