When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Placenta praevia is a pregnancy complication where the placenta partially or completely covers the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. This can cause bleeding during pregnancy, which can be heavy and life-threatening, premature birth, low birth weight, fetal distress, and placental abruption (separation of the placenta from the uterus).

Background
Kaltume is a 20-yearl old young woman, she is caring and compassionate person who likes cultural performance. She has a dream of becoming a renowned Fulani cultural artist. She was well until about a week before the presentation when she started having PV bleeding which was initially mild but later became profuse. There was no history of fever, trauma to the abdomen or abdominal pain. However, there was dizziness. She is not a known hypertensive or diabetic. She is G2P1+0A1, her LMP was 5 months ago. On examination: pale, weak, mildly jaundiced with body swelling. BP - 130/90mmHg, PR - 72b/m Abd - gravid uterus, size: 24 cm, fetal heart sound present. Diagnosis: Placenta Previa with concealed bleeding.
Medical history
Kaltume was admitted in our facility and managed as a case of Placenta Previa. She had her full course of medications and other supportive care. She responded well to the management instituted evidenced by resolving of the bleeding and other presenting symptoms. She was later discharged and placed on a close follow up. She and her husband are very grateful to helpster for sponsoring her treatment.
Prognosis
Placenta previa is a serious life-threatening condition resulting in fetal distress and subsequent death, if not properly managed. However, urgent intervention can save the life of the baby from this fatal condition. The plan is to admit the patient: -Do urgent Obstetric Scan -Do PCV, GXM -Do EUCr, RBS
