Alvin M., 6

Alvin lives in the rural areas. He likes playing with his pets. His favorite meal is roasted meat and milk. He likes to drink both fresh milk and fermented milk. Alvin would like to be a farmer when he grows up. He was brought to the hospital with complains of fever, chest pain, difficulty in breathing and a productive cough. The symptoms begun 3 days ago and he was given anti pain medication which did not help much. The cough remained persistent and worsened. Alvin's mother had previously heard about Helpster Charity from the church pastor and she brought the child to hospital to be attended to

Alvin was brought to the hospital by his concerned mother, who reported that he had been running a high fever, experiencing chest pain, and struggling to breathe. On arrival, Alvin appeared visibly unwell. A thorough physical examination revealed congestion in his lungs, as crepitations were clearly heard during auscultation. A malaria test was performed to rule out the possibility, but the result came back negative. Based on his symptoms and examination findings, Alvin was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and immediately started on appropriate treatment. Thanks to timely intervention and close monitoring, Alvin’s condition steadily improved. He was later discharged once he was stable and on the road to full recovery. A follow-up phone call with his mother a few days after discharge brought wonderful news—Alvin had made a full recovery and was back to being his active, cheerful self.

Pneumonia prognosis is good. It's treated with antibiotics, if not treated Alvin would be at risk of developing sepsis and lung abscess which can be life threatening to him leading to lung collapse and even death.
