In a crowded slum on the outskirts of Maiduguri, lived a cheerful 3 year-old boy named Mohammed. Despite the poverty that surrounded him, Mohammed’s spirit was bright and infectious. His family lived in a small apartment along Lagos street. Despite the harsh conditions, Mohammed found joy in the simplest of things. One hot afternoon, Mohammed began to feel unwell. He had been running around, playing with his neighbors, when he suddenly felt dizzy and weak. Amina noticed her son's flushed cheeks and dull eyes. She touched his forehead and found it burning with fever. His fever persisted, and he developed a generalized body rash that spread quickly, causing intense itching. The rash was soon accompanied by whitish lesions that dotted his skin, making him feel even more uncomfrtable. The child was diagnosed with Scabies, Malaria and Enteric Fever.

Mohammed Kadam was brought to Nakowa Hospital with severe scabies, malaria, and enteric fever. His condition was critical and required urgent treatment. Thanks to the support from Helpster Charity, all medical bills were fully covered. Mohammed responded well to treatment and has now fully recovered. Untreated malaria can result in severe complications such as organ failure and death, while untreated enteric fever can lead to intestinal perforation, hemorrhage, and even death due to systemic infection. Early treatment is crucial to prevent these conditions from worsening and causing serious harm.
