Maya is very loving and gentle. She likes playing with other children from the neighborhood. She loves domestic animals but has more affinity to cats. She is often found cuddling the cat in their house. She has not started school yet. She was unwell until 4 days prior to being brought to the hospital when she developed a running nose, pain on swallowing, abdominal pain and also had a discharge from the ear. She was not feeding well and was deteriorating by the day. Maya's mother did not have any money to take her child to the hospital and kept giving her child pain relievers, hoping for the pain to ease and for her daughter to improve and get well. On the 4th day after the symptoms begun, a community health volunteer was doing door to door visits and was shocked to find Maya very ill. Upon learning that Maya had not been taken to the hospital due to lack of funds, the community health volunteer informed Maya's mother about Helpster Charity assisting sick underprivileged children at St. Anne's Nyang'oma and Maya was immediately brought to the hospital.

Rashline spent 3 days i the hospital ward being managed on antimalarial and antibiotics injections. She responded very fast to her medication and was discharged on oral medication. The mother was given health education on the preventive measures of malaria and on the importance of adherence to medication. She promised to adhere to the instructions. The baby is fine and back to her good health.

Malaria is preventable and curable. The primary objective of treatment is to ensure the rapid and complete elimination of the parasites causing the disease from a patient's bloodstream in order to prevent an uncomplicated case of malaria from progressing to severe disease or death. If it isn't diagnosed and If it isn't treated, malaria can cause severe health problems such as seizures, brain damage, trouble breathing, organ failure and death.
