Farhan is a lively and active 5-month-old boy who lives in the village with his parents and grandmother. His father, Kamrun, works at a garment factory as the sole breadwinner for the family, which struggles to make ends meet. Farhan's parents dream of him becoming a businessman one day. Recently, Farhan had been suffering from a cough and cold, but his condition worsened, and he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. His symptoms included a persistent cough, severe respiratory distress, reluctance to eat, and a high fever. His parents initially brought him to the government hospital, where he was then referred to a tertiary hospital for advanced care. Unfortunately, due to their financial situation, they were unable to afford the treatment at the tertiary hospital.

Baby Farhan, just five months old, was caught in the grips of severe pneumonia. Despite multiple rounds of antibiotics from local pharmacies, his condition showed no signs of improvement, leading to the urgent need for hospitalization. Under dedicated medical care, he received crucial treatments including oxygen therapy and nebulization with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, and budesonide, along with injectable antibiotics and hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of his condition. Miraculously, he began to respond to the treatment, and his condition improved. Finally, he returned home, bringing smiles of relief and joy to his parents, who were overjoyed to have their little warrior back.

Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
