Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Bokoli Subcounty Hospital

Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, Sikata - Kimilili Rd, Bokoli

Background

Purity is a 13 y.o. girl who lives with her family in extreme conditions - the main source of drinking water for the family is the unprotected well water, and it takes more than 30 minutes to get to the water source and come back. They live in a house with no electricity, with a floor made of cow dung, and the walls of mud. The household is comprised of six people, while only one person works to feed the family.

Medical history

Purity was very ill when she came to the hospital. The mother had attempted to use all sorts of medication and in the process the child got worse with time. She was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and treated in the hospital, and, consequently, improved. By the time she was leaving the hospital, the cough had subsided and she no longer had the fever. Purity was grateful to Helpster Charity. She recounted how her mother had attempted to find some money to bring her to hospital but had not succeeded, and resorted to over the counter medication which did not help much.

Prognosis

Purity has been having chest and joint pain that got more critical in past 3 days. She has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid disease and Severe pneumonia. Patient needs to be treated as an in-patient for intravenous antibiotics. If not treated, it can lead to lung damage and other complications.
