Maggy lives with her mother together with her other siblings. She does not go to school yet. She enjoys playing at home with other children in the neighbourhood who aren't going to school yet, but is looking forward to joining school when she is of age. For the past 6 days, Maggy has been unwell. She has watery diarrhoea and has almost 5 episodes in a day. Her mother tried giving her some herbal concoctions, hoping that this would help her child but there has been no improvement; on the contrary the symptoms have worsened. She was brought to the hospital looking quite dehydrated after losing alot of fluids from the diarrhoea.

Maggy developed diarrhoea vomiting hotness of body and generalised body weakness she was then brought to the clinic assessed tested and found to have severe dehydration due to Acute gastroenteritis,she was treated with hydrating fluids , antibiotics, antiemetics and antipyretics .she was then observed for 3 days and released to go home to continue with medications.she is now feeling and her mother is happy

Condition is life threatening if left untreated treated since it can cause severe dehydration leading to death however when treatment is initiated early enough the outcome is usually good
