When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Halima Ibrahim presented to our facility with the complain of fever, headache, dizziness, suprapubic pain, 3/7 duration. On examination and blood, urine sample collected revealed 1. P.I.D 2. Malaria + Enteric fever was made. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): PID is an infection of the female reproductive organs, typically caused by sexually transmitted bacteria spreading from the vagina to the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries. Malaria: A mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue, often in cyclical patterns. Severe cases can lead to anemia, organ failure, and death if untreated. Enteric Fever (Typhoid Fever): A bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi. It is characterized by prolonged fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, and sometimes a rash. Severe cases may result in intestinal perforation or hemorrhage.

Background
Halima Ibrahim, an 18-year-old girl, completed her primary education but could not continue her studies due to various circumstances. She is the eldest of seven children, with six younger siblings. Despite her challenges, Halima is known for her resilience and dedication to helping her family. Her story reflects many young people's struggle to pursue education amid economic and social constraints. Halima began experiencing severe lower abdominal pain, accompanied by a high fever and unusual discharge in her private part. She continued her daily routine until the pain became unbearable. She also developed a persistent headache, body aches, and chills, which were later joined by bouts of diarrhea and nausea. The symptoms from these conditions left her exhausted and in need of immediate medical attention to prevent further complications. However, Halima couldn't afford medical attention until Helpster gave her free medical care. On presentation at our facility, she was examined and diagnosed with Malaria, Enteric Fever, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID).
Medical history
Halima was diagnosed with P.I.D alongside malaria and enteric fever, making her illness especially difficult. With the compassionate care she received and the generous support of Helpster charity, Halima slowly recovered. Her family is incredibly grateful for the help that gave her a chance to heal and a brighter future.
Prognosis
If Halima Ibrahim is not treated urgently for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and the co-infection of Malaria and Enteric Fever, she risks severe and potentially life-threatening complications. Untreated PID can lead to chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. The combination of Malaria and Enteric Fever can result in multi-organ failure, severe anemia, and intestinal perforation, all of which can be fatal. Immediate medical intervention is critical to prevent these severe outcomes and to ensure her recovery.
