Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Melvin, an 8-year-old girl, is naturally quiet and composed. She has a creative mind and enjoys spending her free time modeling with clay or playing with her toys. Around familiar people, she loves cracking jokes. In class, she is highly engaged and has a deep love for reading storybooks. Her dream is to become a doctor when she grows up. One day, Melvin returned home from school experiencing severe vomiting, a persistent cough, and a loss of appetite. As the symptoms persisted for several days, her father became increasingly concerned and recalled that Future Life Community Nursing Hope had a charity organization that caters for medical fee of sick underprivileged children; he decided to take her to Future Life Hospital for medical attention.

Medical history

Melvin was brought to the hospital with complaints of fever, vomiting, and a loss of appetite. After running some laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with malaria—a finding that necessitated her admission for closer monitoring and treatment. During her stay, Melvin received the appropriate medication and responded remarkably well. Within a few days, her condition had improved significantly, and she was discharged with oral medication to complete her treatment at home. A follow-up visit by a Helpster volunteer found Melvin in high spirits—back on her feet and already back in school, full of energy.

Prognosis

The patient is currently exhibiting symptoms of both severe malaria and broncho-pneumonia, including high fever, chills, cough with phlegm, and rapid breathing. The combination of these two conditions poses a significant health risk, particularly in a young child. Immediate medical intervention is crucial to address both infections and prevent potential complications. Prognosis: With timely and appropriate treatment, the patient's condition is expected to improve within 48-72 hours. The treatment plan will focus on combating the malaria parasite and managing the broncho-pneumonia to clear the infection and improve breathing.
