Alphonse O., 3

Alfonse is an orphan whose father is unknown, and his mother passed away when he was just two weeks old. He was placed in an orphanage for care and shelter since his relatives could not be traced. The orphanage relies on well wishers to support the children with food, clothing and education. Recently, Alphonse developed a fever that lasted for nearly two days, accompanied by an itchy skin rash covering his body. The rash later turned into sores, with pus oozing out of some areas and the fever got worse, prompting his caregiver to take him to the hospital for further evaluation.

Alphonse was brought to the hospital with complains of itchy skin which were reddish. It was diagnosed as an allergic reaction. Alphonse was promptly treated in the out patient department and was duly discharged on orals. The sister in charge of the orphanage reported later that Alphonse was okay and the rash on his skin had disappeared and was able to join his friends in playing .

The child presented with skin rush that is itching on the first day which progressed to septic spots all over the body and swelling on the left upper arm Fever of 39.7 was noted and the baby as febrile on touch. The child needed urgent treatment since the complaint that brought him to the hospital as progressing to a more complicated condition. If the child as left untreated the ailment would result to a more serious infection e.g blood infection which may increase morbidity rate and with poor prognosis.
