Background
Mohammad is a 2-year-old boy from Narayanganj who has always lived happily with his parents in their humble tin-shed home. Recently, however, his joy has been overshadowed by a severe illness; what began as a simple cough and cold has escalated into a life-threatening case of pneumonia, leaving him in respiratory distress and reluctant to feed. His parents, Mohammad and Moni, desperately sought help at a government hospital, only to be referred to a tertiary facility they cannot afford. With their hopes dwindling and no money for treatment, they turned to Narayanganj Poly Clinic, seeking urgent assistance. Medical history
Mohammad, a 2-year-old child, had been battling recurrent respiratory tract infections for the past few months, but this time, his condition took a turn for the worse as he developed severe pneumonia. Despite multiple courses of antibiotics from local pharmacies, his health continued to decline, leaving him lethargic and in a toxic state. In desperate need of emergency hospitalization, he received critical care at Narayanganj Polyclinic, including oxygen therapy, nebulization with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, budesonide, and injectable antibiotics, along with hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of his condition. Now, after receiving the care he needed, Mohammad is doing well and has returned home, bringing joy back to his family. With tears of gratitude in their eyes, his parents said, "Thank you to Helpster Donors and Narayanganj Polyclinic for saving our son's life; we are forever grateful for your support!"
Prognosis
The patient was suffering from severe pneumonia, which posed a life-threatening risk and required immediate treatment. Upon admission, he received emergency care, including intramuscular antibiotics, nebulization, and oxygen support, as intravenous administration was not feasible due to repeated cannula displacement. If left untreated, this condition could have led to serious lung infections, respiratory failure, sepsis, and potentially death; however, I am pleased to report that the patient is now doing well and has returned to his normal daily life, bringing smiles to his parents' faces.
