About malaria and enteric fever
Malaria is a disease spread by mosquito bites that causes high fever, chills, weakness, and sweating. Enteric Fever (also known as typhoid fever) is a bacterial infection usually caused by contaminated food or water, leading to prolonged fever, stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Background
Yakubu is a lively 2-year-old boy full of curiosity and energy. He lives with his family in a small community, where he loves playing with sand, chasing chickens, and mimicking the sounds he hears around him. Though still learning to speak, his bright eyes and warm smile bring joy to everyone he meets. One afternoon, Yakubu became unusually quiet and refused to eat. He had a high fever, was vomiting, and looked very weak. His mother noticed he also had frequent loose stools. Fearing something was wrong, she rushed him to Albishir Hospital requesting medical support from Helpster Charity. On presentation, the child was diagnosed with Malaria and Enteric Fever.
Medical history
Yakubu was treated at Albisbir Hospital for Malaria and Enteric Fever with support from Helpster Charity. He was given a combination of antimalarial and antibiotic medications, along with supportive care to manage his symptoms. His condition improved significantly during treatment, and he made a full recovery. Yakubu was discharged with health advice to help prevent future infections.
Prognosis
With early and proper treatment, most children with malaria and enteric fever recover fully. Malaria can become severe or life-threatening if untreated, while enteric fever may lead to complications like intestinal damage or dehydration. Timely medical care and good hygiene greatly improve the chances of recovery.
