Background
Fatima is a calm and respectful girl who is not opportune to have an education. She is passionate about tailoring and working hard to become the best fashion designer in her community. The patient was well until about 3 weeks before presentation, when the patient started to have blisters on the right and left gluteal region. The blisters increase in size before they subsequently rupture to discharge clear fluid initially, before they start to discharge purulent, foul-smelling fluid. The patient was immobilized for about 4 months as she was unable to use both lower limbs since before her childbirth about.
Medical history
Fatima was admitted and managed in our facility. She was managed as a case of pressure sores of the gluteus. She had surgical debridement done successfully. She continued with wound care and antibiotics with other supplementary medications. As the treatment progressed, she responded well to the treatment as wound begins healing. She was later discharged home to complete her recovery process. She expressed her gratefulness to the helpster team for the support she received.
Prognosis
Pressure sores on the buttocks can have varying prognoses depending on stage and treatment, with stage 2 sores having a 70% healing rate within 6 months. If left untreated, pressure sores can lead to severe complications, including infections, septicemia, malnutrition, anemia, and increased mortality. Untreated pressure sores can also significantly impact quality of life, causing chronic pain, limited mobility, and emotional distress.
