Promise B., 1

Promise lives with her mother and grandmother in a modest home consisting of two habitable rooms. The family resides on a small piece of land and depends heavily on her grandmother, who is the sole breadwinner. She earns a living by selling second-hand clothes. Their daily survival is unpredictable and depends on how many customers she receives each day. On days when sales are good, the family is able to afford two meals. However, when business is slow, they at times go without food. They access drinking water from a nearby tap, which is not treated. Promise is a cheerful and playful young girl who enjoys spending time with their pets. Two days prior to arriving at the hospital, Promise developed diarrhoea. Her mother, believing it would help, administered traditional herbs to manage the condition. Unfortunately, Promise’s condition worsened later that same evening—she began vomiting, had persistent loose stools, developed a fever, and appeared very weak. With no financial resources available, the family felt helpless. Fortunately, a neighbour who had previously benefited from Helpster Charity referred them to Bokoli Sub County Hospital, assuring them that the organisation could provide support. Upon arrival at the facility, I assessed the child and immediately referred her to the consultation room for further medical evaluation. Promise presented with symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, dehydration, fever, and general weakness.

Promise was diagnosed with diarrhoea ,dehydration and PEM ,she was treated in the ward for 2 days and was discharged when she was stable, on her discharge her mother expressed a lot of happiness and this is her message: "I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate Helpster for being there ,I had nothing to offer only to hear from my friend is now when am witnessing how Helpster Charity is saving the community, thanks again Helpster heroes"

Promise was treated and given best treatment and will progress well to recovery
