Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is a condition characterized by sores or ulcers in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). These ulcers are typically caused by damage to the protective lining of the stomach and duodenum by excessive stomach acid and pepsin. Typhoid fever is a serious bacterial infection caused by the Salmonella Typhi bacteria, often spread through contaminated food, water, or direct contact with infected individuals. It's characterized by a persistent high fever, fatigue, abdominal pain, and potentially other symptoms like diarrhea or constipation. If left untreated, typhoid fever can lead to severe complications, including intestinal perforation and death. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening, mosquito-borne disease caused by parasitic protozoa of the genus Plasmodium. It is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria is particularly prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions.

Background
Regina is a shy girl from a modest background. She is currently in grade seven. Passionate about football, she dreams of playing for the national team after completing her education. Regina also serves as a mass/altar girl at their local Catholic church. She is the youngest in her family, and her mother, who is a widow, works on other people's farms to support them. Regina has a good relationship with those around her. She was brought to the facility by her sister-in-law, complaining of a one-week history of epigastric pain, nausea, headaches, and abdominal pain, without having taken any medication at home. On examination, Regina was found to be neither pale nor jaundiced but appeared clinically lethargic, with tenderness in the epigastric area. Several laboratory tests were conducted, and she was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease, malaria, and typhoid fever. Treatment was initiated immediately.
Medical history
Rhoda came to the hospital complaining of epigastric pain, nausea, headache, and abdominal pain. Investigations were done, and she was diagnosed with peptic ulcer, malaria, and typhoid. She was prescribed medications and discharged to recover at home. A call to her guardian revealed that Rhoda was indeed fully recovered and she had gone back to her normal life.
Prognosis
The prognosis for peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is generally good with appropriate treatment, with most ulcers healing within a few weeks. Typhoid fever, if treated promptly with antibiotics, also has a good prognosis, with most people feeling better within a few days. Her chances of full recovery are very high, provided she follows the prescribed medication and adheres to the doctor’s instructions.
