Esther A., 13

Esther is a total orphan who lost both of her parents at the age of five. She now lives with her grandmother, who relies on farming to support them. Esther is currently in Grade 6 at the local primary school, where she is an active member of the football team. She enjoys spending time with younger children and dreams of becoming a police officer in the future. She was recently brought to the health facility with a one-month history of epigastric pain, heartburn, throat irritation, general body aches, and headaches. Despite the ongoing symptoms, she had not received proper medical treatment prior to this visit.

Esther was brought to the facility with a history of epigastric pain, heartburn, throat irritation, general body aches, and headache. This has been going on for almost one month with no proper medication. She was diagnosed with a peptic ulcer and was admitted to the wards for proper management. She stayed in the ward for four days, upon which she was discharged on orals. Esther made a a fully recovery and has gone back to school, thereby resuming her normal life.

Prognosis is generally good, especially when the underlying cause, such as H. pylori infection, is effectively treated. Most patients respond well to treatment, and recurrence can be prevented by addressing lifestyle factors and avoiding medications that can worsen the condition.
