Background
Valentine, a 13-year-old girl, was abandoned around the age of 4. Her family was eventually traced, and when she was about 7 years old, she was placed in the care of her grandmother. Despite facing financial challenges, the grandmother warmly welcomed and committed to caring for her granddaughter. Valentine was brought to the hospital with a history of a dry cough, joint pain, chest discomfort, headaches, shortness of breath, and fatigue. After a thorough medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with bronchitis and admitted to the ward for further treatment and management.
Medical history
Valentine came to the hospital with a history of nonproductive cough, joint pains, chest pain, headache, difficulty in breathing, and feeling tired. She was diagnosed with bronchitis and was admitted to the ward for four days. She was treated with medication, and she responded well. She was later discharged on orals. Valentine resumed school as reported by the grandmother and was no longer experiencing any pains.
Prognosis
The prognosis for bronchitis, whether acute or chronic, varies. Acute bronchitis, a usually viral infection, typically resolves within a few weeks without lasting effects. However, repeated episodes of acute bronchitis can lead to chronic bronchitis, a more serious condition that can cause lung damage and chronic breathing difficulties.
