Buba musa H., 1

Buba is a 1-year-old infant, who likes to smile but cries when hungry. He was well until 3 days before the presentation when he started having a cough, fever, refusal to feed and difficulty breathing. He was given an herbal concoction at home, but no improvement and they were advised to seek hospital care from Helpster Charity. On presentation at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with sepsis secondary to bronchopneumonia and malaria. He requires urgent treatment and admission.

Buba was managed in our facility as a case of sepsis secondary to bronchopneumonia and malaria. He received full dosages of IV antimalarial, antibiotics and other medications. His response was very good as presenting symptoms subsided. He was then discharged home on on oral medications for complete recovery. Parents express their joy for receiving aid from helpster.

With prompt treatment, a child with sepsis due to bronchopneumonia and malaria can recover, but may require hospitalization for antibiotics, antimalarial medications, and supportive care. If left untreated, the condition can lead to severe complications, including organ failure, respiratory failure, and neurological damage, with a high risk of mortality. Prompt and effective treatment can help prevent long-term health problems, but delayed or inadequate treatment can lead to lasting complications. The prognosis depends on factors like infection severity, overall health, and treatment effectiveness.
