Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About urology

An ectopic testis is a medical condition characterized by the abnormal positioning of one of the testicles, which fails to descend into the scrotum as it normally should. Instead, the testicle follows an atypical path through the abdominal cavity and settles in an incorrect location, often within the inguinal canal or pre-pubic area. This condition can lead to various complications, including discomfort, pain, and potential fertility issues if not treated appropriately.

Background

Emon Sheikh is a 13-year-old boy living in a modest home with his parents and elderly grandparents, who are both unwell. As the only child in a poor family, Emon helps his father, a day laborer earning just 7,000 taka a month, while also attending primary school and playing sports with friends. Emon has suffered from ectopic testis disease, which has caused him discomfort, pain, and swelling, but due to financial constraints and lack of awareness, he has been unable to seek medical help. The only treatment for his condition is surgery, which his family cannot afford given their limited income and the burden of caring for his sick grandparents. After learning about Helpster Charity from a health worker at RUDO Hospital, Emon is hopeful that with support from generous donors, he can finally receive the treatment he desperately needs to lead a healthier life and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.

Medical history

The patient came in with concerns about undescended testes, a condition that could lead to significant long-term issues, including infertility if not treated in a timely manner. To rectify this situation, an orchidopexy was necessary to ensure the testicle would descend properly and function effectively. The surgery was carried out successfully, with no complications, allowing for the proper development of the patient's reproductive health. After the procedure, both the patient and his parents expressed their sincere thanks to Helpster Donors and RUDO Hospital for their invaluable support and care, feeling relieved and optimistic about the future.

Prognosis

The patient with ectopic testes requires timely intervention to prevent potential long-term complications, including infertility. If the testicle does not descend naturally and is left untreated, the likelihood of maintaining its function diminishes significantly after the first year of life. It is crucial to address this anomaly promptly to ensure proper development and preserve fertility in the future. Early treatment (orchiopexy) will not only improve the patient's reproductive health but also reduce the risk of associated complications.
