Eclampsia, a rare condition in which a pregnant or postpartum woman suddenly experiences seizures, is a medical emergency. It is a serious complication of pregnancy that can lead to injury or death of the pregnant woman and/or baby Pregnancy is the term used to describe the period in which a fetus develops inside a woman's womb or uterus. Pregnancy usually lasts about 40 weeks, or just over 9 months, as measured from the last menstrual period to delivery. Pregnancy ends with childbirth, which can be either a vaginal delivery or in case of any complication where vaginal delivery is deemed unsafe, a cesarean section

Background
Anjeline is the third-born in a family of ten children raised by a single mother. She completed primary school up to Class 8, but financial challenges prevented her from continuing to secondary school. While in school, she actively participated in athletics, particularly excelling in the 5000-meter race. In her free time, Anjeline enjoys reading the Bible and sings in her church choir. She was brought to the hospital with complains of intense, throbbing headaches, abdominal pain, and episodes of convulsions. Upon examination, it was confirmed that she was pregnant and had dangerously high blood pressure. A vaginal exam showed that her cervix was 2 cm dilated. The baby was in a breech position—meaning the baby’s bottom was positioned to come out first instead of the head—and was aligned longitudinally in the womb. Due to these complications, Anjeline was admitted to the maternity ward and taken to the operating theater for an emergency cesarean section to ensure a safe delivery.
Medical history
The child was admitted to the maternity ward as she had started experiencing contractions. She had eclampsia, a condition associated with pregnant women having seizures, and she had to be taken for an emergency cesarean birth, which was a success. She was returned to the ward and was discharged on orals when stable. A visit to the home by the volunteer revealed that she had recovered and had gone back to her normal life. The volunteer also confirmed that her cesarean wound was healing rapidly and well.
Prognosis
This is severe complication of pregnancy characterized by seizures in a woman with preeclampsia—can be serious, but with prompt medical treatment, outcomes can be significantly improved for both mother and baby. If not urgently addressed it can lead to death of the pregnant woman and /or the baby
