Jelili A., 18

Jelili is an 18-year-old boy, who has stopped his education at Primary 6 and his currently learning fashion designer. His father is an elderly 75 years old and his mother divorced his father and left him when he was 7 months old. The stepmother has been the one taking care of him and she is elderly too age 69. He was well till 10 years ago, when he developed a swelling in his groin. It has been increasing in size and is associated with pain. On presentation, at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Giant Hydrocele.

Agbaje Jelili was diagnosed with Hydrocele and admitted upon Helpster's approval for the surgery. The surgery was successfully done with no complications. Child recovered and could resume his activities with joy. his parents were happy and grateful.

The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
