Patrick W., 14

Patrick is a 14-year-old boy and the eldest of three children. He is currently in Grade 5 at a rural public primary school. He lives with his single mother, who is the sole provider for the family. She runs a small second-hand clothing business, and the family relies entirely on the profits from this venture to meet their daily needs. They live in a rented house and share a pit latrine with neighbors. Their main source of drinking water is a nearby well. Patrick is a dedicated student with dreams of becoming a doctor. He also enjoys playing football in his free time. He has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease. Two days ago, he began feeling unwell. Due to financial constraints, his mother could only afford painkillers from a local chemist, which she gave him before leaving to check on her business. Unfortunately, Patrick's condition worsened. When they finally sought care at a health facility, his mother could not afford the required services. He was referred to Helpster Charity, where he was assessed and registered for support. Currently, Patrick is experiencing severe dizziness and weakness, making it hard for him to manage the 5-kilometer walk to school. His teacher reports that he has already missed at least 12 school days this term.

Patrick is a known sickle cell client came to the facility with severe pain fever she was treated and discharged later when she was stable and were happy .

The condition was taken care off on time and if the condition could have remained untreated it could have resulted to death.
