Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Latifat is a 14-year-old teenage girl, the 2nd child in the family of five, her mother is a petty trader and works in a factory. She loves sport and she would like to become a sport person in the future. Abdominal pain for the past three months. She was placed on Tab Levofloxacin, Flagyl {at home until pain got worse on the 12th of May 2025. The patient was unable to stand erect, and this was associated with vomiting, fever and headache. She was evaluated and diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis and needs urgent surgery. On examination, there is severe tenderness on the right iliac fossa with rebound tenderness.

Medical history

Latifat was admitted on account of acute appendicitis, which caused severe abdominal illness. She underwent surgery as scheduled, and the procedure was successful with no complications. She responded well to both the surgery and postoperative care. Upon recovery, Latifat was discharged in a stable condition. She is currently doing much better, free from abdominal pain or fever, and is actively playing with friends and family.

Prognosis

If appendicitis is not treated, it can lead to serious complications, the most severe being a ruptured appendix. When the appendix ruptures, it releases bacteria into the abdomen, potentially leading to a serious infection called peritonitis, which can be life-threatening. An abscess, which is a pocket of infection, may also form. Treatment for appendicitis usually involves surgery to remove the appendix, a procedure known as an appendectomy.
