When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Angola lives with her grandmother, who is the sole provider for their family. Her grandmother is a small-scale farmer who relies on selling vegetables as her only source of income, earning about KES 1,000 per month. Due to her own physical challenges, providing for the family is difficult. Angola is a Grade 8 student and a bright pupil with dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. She enjoys playing netball, but her participation is limited as she gets tired quickly. Three days ago, Angola developed a fever and became restless. Unfortunately, the family couldn't afford to buy medication. She was referred to the health facility by community health promoters, where they met the Helpster team. After assessing their situation, the team stepped in to assist. Upon examination, doctors found that Angola was anemic, had a low blood count, and appeared visibly unwell. She has not attended her monthly check-ups for the past three months. Her grandmother explained that even when they manage to reach the hospital, they are unable to afford the necessary medication, consultation fees, or lab tests. Currently, Angola is experiencing intense pain in her back and legs, which has confined her to bed for most of the day. As a result, she missed nearly three weeks of school last term.
Medical history
Three days prior to coming to the hospital, Angola developed a fever and became increasingly restless. Due to financial constraints, the family was unable to purchase any medication. Community health promoters referred them to a nearby health facility, where they encountered the Helpster team. After evaluating their situation, the team offered support. Medical examination revealed that Angola was anemic, had a low blood count, and appeared generally unwell. She was treated and discharged She is now attending her monthly check-ups regularly and is progressing well.
Prognosis
The acute illness of anaemia and malaria have a good prognosis since the medication provided will be given and the child will be well.
