Malaria and anemia are serious complications in individuals with sickle cell disease. Malaria can trigger sickle cell crises by increasing red blood cell destruction and causing fever, dehydration, and stress on the body. Anemia in sickle cell patients is often chronic due to the rapid breakdown of abnormally shaped red blood cells, and it can worsen during infections like malaria, leading to severe fatigue, weakness, and in severe cases, life-threatening complications. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent these outcomes.

Background
Branton is a bright and ambitious 7-year-old boy in Grade 2 at a rural primary school. He dreams of becoming a doctor one day and enjoys playing football. He lives with his parents in his paternal family’s compound, which is shared by three other households. They all use a communal bathroom and pit latrine. The family fetches water from a stream during the rainy season - located about 30 minutes away from their home - and during the dry season, they either buy water or rely on neighboring households with wells. Branton is a known sickle cell patient. He had been unwell for a day, experiencing dizziness and headaches. Due to financial constraints, his family couldn’t afford medication. With no other option, the local chief intervened and referred them to a health facility.
Medical history
Branton is a known sickle cell client came to the facility with severe pain fever she was treated and discharged later when she was stable and were happy .Branton is now back to his usual activities: he goes to school in the morning, and spends most of his time in the afternoon with the animals the family owns. After the received treatment, he likes to run around the village
Prognosis
Prognosis of the acute illness is good since the malaria and anaemia were diagnosed early enough
