If left untreated or if recurrent, it can lead to complications such as obstructive sleep apnea, difficulty breathing, speech problems, and in severe cases, spread of infection to surrounding tissues or bloodstream.

Background
Tahira Begum is just 7 years old, but she has been suffering from terrible sore throat and difficulty eating for 4 long years. Her family, with only 5000 Taka a month, lives in a tiny tin house, and her father Abu Sayed, a rickshaw puller, cannot afford her surgery. The doctor says she must have her tonsils removed quickly, or her condition could become worse—she might get very sick, have trouble breathing. Without help, Tahira’s future looks very dark, and her family feels helpless watching her suffer every day.
Medical history
Tahira Sayed 07 years old girl came with the complaints of sore throat for 5 days, difficulty in deglutition for same duration, history of fever for 7 days ago and H/O tonsillitis several times in previous year , and admitted in this hospital on 10 May 2025 , then after proper examination and investigation she was diagnosed as chronic adenotonsillitis and was planned to treat surgically, after proper preanaesthetic check up her Adenotonsilectomy was done successfully on 10 May 2025 at night. Then she was kept in postoperative care and was shifted to her cabin bed . On 3 rd POD on 13 May 2025 she was discharged with appropriate medication and advice.
Prognosis
Tahira has been suffering from recurrent tonsillitis for the past four years, with symptoms such as sore throat, congestion, and difficulty eating. Despite taking medication, her condition has not fully improved, and she continues to experience discomfort and missed school days. Upon examination, her tonsils and adenoids are enlarged, indicating the need for surgical removal. If not treated, her condition could worsen, leading to complications like airway obstruction, sleep apnea, or spread of infection to surrounding tissues.
