Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About gynecology

Severe oligohydramnios suggests placental insufficiency and compromises fetal well-being. Risks include cord compression, meconium aspiration, and fetal hypoxia. Fetal distress is a condition where the baby in the womb does not receive enough oxygen, which can cause the baby to become stressed and show abnormal heart rates. If not treated quickly, fetal distress can lead to serious problems such as brain damage, long-term disabilities, or even death of the baby. It is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention to prevent these worst outcomes.

Background

Nafija is the wife of Alamgir Hossain, and she is pregnant with her second child. She lives in a small tin house with her family, including her husband, son, daughter, and mother-in-law. Recently, she develops severe oligohydramnios and shows signs of fetal distress, which require an urgent cesarean section to ensure her safety and that of her baby. Her family’s income is only 8000 BDT per month, so they cannot afford the cost of the surgery. Without help to cover the expenses, Nafija and her baby face serious health risks, including the possibility of stillbirth or long-term complications.

Medical history

Nafija needed an urgent cesarean section because she had severe oligohydramnios and signs of fetal distress, which meant the baby was not getting enough oxygen and was at risk of serious complications or stillbirth. The cesarean was performed to deliver the baby safely and prevent long-term health problems. The surgery went well, and Nafija successfully delivered a healthy baby. Now, Nafija and her family are very happy and discharged home, grateful for the help they received. Nafija cannot find the words to thank the Helpster donors and Jamuna Hospital enough for saving her and her baby's lives.

Prognosis

Nafija presents with severe oligohydramnios and signs of fetal distress, which indicate that the baby is not getting enough oxygen. She needs an urgent cesarean section to deliver the baby safely and prevent further complications. If the condition is not treated quickly, there is a high risk of stillbirth, brain damage, or long-term disabilities for the baby. Immediate surgical intervention is essential to ensure the safety of both mother and child.
