When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

An inguinal hernia is a condition in which a portion of the intestine or abdominal tissue protrudes through a weakened or torn area in the lower abdominal wall, typically in the groin area. A person with an inguinal hernia typically experiences a noticeable bulge or lump in the groin area. This bulge can be painful or uncomfortable, especially when lifting. Some individuals might also feel aching or burning sensations around the hernia. In certain cases, the hernia can lead to symptoms like groin pain, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and discomfort.

Background
Rufiat is the 2nd child in the family, her parents are not living together anymore and Rufiat and her 2 siblings are all living with her grandma. Rufiat is a good girl that loves helping her grandma, her dream is to become a lawyer. She was apparently well until 5 years ago when she developed a swelling in her left groin. It was small at the beginning but has gradually increased in size. It is reducible, associated with some levels of discomfort, the swelling comes back after being reduced. On presentation at our hospital, she was diagnosed with Reducible Left Inguinal Hernia.
Medical history
She underwent a clinical evaluation, followed by a successful inguinal surgery to correct the condition. The procedure involved repairing the affected area to prevent further protrusion or swelling. The surgery was successful, there were no complications, and Rofiat recovered well. The swelling was resolved, her discomfort was relieved, and she was discharged home with her family. she was able to return to normal daily activities without complications. The family is grateful to Helpster Charity for providing free medical treatment to their child.
Prognosis
If left untreated, inguinal hernias can lead to complications such as bowel obstruction, strangulation (where blood supply to the herniated tissue is cut off), and significant pain or discomfort. Surgery is the most common treatment for inguinal hernias to repair the weakened area and prevent these potential complications.
