Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Adenotonsillectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the enlarged tonsils and adenoids to relieve breathing, swallowing, and recurrent infections. If not treated, enlarged tonsils and adenoids can lead to persistent infections, sleep apnea, difficulty breathing, poor growth, and in severe cases, complications such as rheumatic fever or kidney problems.

Background

Sabbir is a talented and bright 4th-grade student who excels in both studies and sports, despite coming from a very poor family. His father works as a daily wage laborer, earning only 8,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to support their small family of six living in a tin-shade house with just two rooms. Sabbir has been suffering from recurring sore throats, fever, cold, and allergies for the past four years due to enlarged tonsils, which have not improved with medicine. His doctor has advised that he needs an adenotonsillectomy to relieve his symptoms and improve his health. Unfortunately, his family cannot afford the cost of the surgery, and they desperately need help to give Sabbir a healthier future.

Medical history

Sabbir Hasan 13 years old boy came with the complaints of sore throat for 3 days, Cough for 7 days , difficulty in deglutition for same duration, history of fever for 5 days ago and H/O tonsillitis several times in previous year , and admitted in this hospital on 17 May 2025 , then after proper examination and investigation she was diagnosed as chronic adenotonsillitis and was planned to treat surgically, after proper preanaesthetic check up her Adenotonsilectomy was done successfully on 17 May 2025 at night. Then she was kept in postoperative care and was shifted to her cabin bed . On 3 rd POD on 20 May 2025 she was discharged with appropriate medication and advice.

Prognosis

Sabbir complains of recurrent sore throat, fever, difficulty swallowing, and breathing problems. Upon examination, his tonsils and adenoid glands are enlarged, indicating chronic hypertrophy due to recurrent tonsillitis. He needs an adenotonsillectomy to remove the enlarged tissues. If not treated, he risks worsening infections, sleep apnea, and other serious complications like rheumatic fever.
